Key Responsibilities
- Efficiently sort, handle, load, and unload palletized and non palletized freight in a less than truckload environment.
- Use appropriate motorized and manual equipment including pallet jacks and forklifts to move freight safely.
- Secure freight inside trailers using appropriate tools and supplies such as straps, load bars, and dunnage.
- Work in a safe and efficient manner, adhering to all company safety policies and procedures.
- Use mobile handheld devices to scan and track shipments, ensuring accurate inventory visibility.
- Work on a dock that is not climate controlled for extended periods, adapting to varying temperatures.
- Lift freight and other objects of various shapes, sizes, and weights, frequently up to 50 pounds and occasionally greater than 70 pounds.
- Safely walk and stand for extended periods on a loading dock that may be slippery, reaching above your head, bending, climbing, pushing, pulling, twisting, squatting, and kneeling as necessary.
What You Need to Qualify
Minimum qualifications include being at least 18 years of age. You must be able to do basic math calculations with and without a calculator. Availability to work a variety of shifts due to varying freight volumes is required, including days, evenings, nights, and weekends. Preferred qualifications include dock or warehouse experience in the transportation industry, forklift experience in a freight or less than truckload environment, experience loading and unloading trailers, and strong attention to detail with a desire to succeed.
