Key Responsibilities
- Operate excavators of various sizes for general engineering and civil works including grading, trenching, and material moving.
- Carry out trenching, detailed digging, backfilling, compacting, and service installation support with accuracy and efficiency.
- Work around utilities, tight spaces, and active worksites with precision, avoiding damage to existing services.
- Complete daily machinery checks including fluid levels, tracks or tires, hydraulic systems, and safety devices.
- Maintain high safety standards and CAL OSHA compliance at all times, reporting any hazards immediately.
- Collaborate with engineers, supervisors, and site crews to ensure project timelines and quality expectations are met.
- Keep track of and turn in field paperwork including daily logs, equipment hours, and material usage.
What You Need to Qualify
Must live in the Bay Area. Minimum five years of excavator operating experience within general engineering or civil construction is required. Proven ability to perform detailed excavation and work around existing services is essential. Strong understanding of safety protocols and hazard management is mandatory. Ability to follow instructions and work independently when needed is expected. Reliable transport is required. You should be able to answer application questions including the deepest trench you have excavated and soil conditions, your experience with excavator attachments beyond a standard bucket, and confirmation that you currently live in the Bay Area.
