Key Responsibilities
- Perform all types of order picking including cluster or mezzanine picking, list picking, and pallet picking to fulfil customer orders accurately.
- Load and process LTL, TL, and small parcel shipments, ensuring all documentation is correct and goods are secured properly.
- Receive parts and check against appropriate corresponding paperwork such as purchase orders and packing lists, reporting any discrepancies.
- Unload merchandise from trucks or containers safely, using forklifts or pallet jacks as needed.
- Label boxes and pallets accurately and completely to comply with internal standard operating procedures.
- Copy, scan, and file shipping documentation to assure Makita’s ability to provide backup documentation and historical records.
- Maintain neat, orderly, clean, and safe work areas including sweeping, dusting, trash disposal, and other sanitation duties.
- Operate forklift, electric walkie riders, stock chasers, and pallet stretch wrappers safely at all times.
- Assist in periodic physical inventory of stock on hand and in maintaining perpetual inventory records.
- Interpret data from the warehouse system and key pertinent information accurately, adapting to changes in workload requirements.
What You Need to Qualify
A high school diploma or equivalent is required. A minimum of three years of warehouse experience or equivalent is necessary. You must be forklift certified, with experience driving electric walkie riders, stock chasers, and pallet stretch wrappers. Experience with desktop software applications is required. Team skills including the ability to work in other departments as needed are essential. Strong communication skills to interact with peers and management are expected. Manual dexterity to operate all manual material handling equipment is needed. You must demonstrate accountability by following instructions and following through consistently. Time management skills to complete assigned work are critical. General mathematical skills to process orders and recognize errors are required. Problem solving skills to recognize problems and make adjustments or recommendations are important. Attention to detail to accurately complete work with little to no errors is mandatory.
