Mechanical Fitter – Shutdowns & Fixed Plant Maintenance

Responsibilities

  • Major shutdowns (flange management, torque/tension, valve overhaul).
  • Daily maintenance on pumps, gearboxes, conveyors.
  • Swagelok & small bore tubing (highly valued).
  • Bolt torque & hydraulic tensioning.
  • Workshop & site-based repairs.
  • Complete digital job cards & safety paperwork.

Requirements

Education

Certificate III Engineering – Mechanical Trade.

Experience

Minimum 3–5 years post-trade in heavy industry or shutdowns.

Qualifications

  • QLD Mechanical Trade certificate.
  • White Card.
  • Confined Space & Working at Heights (preferred).
  • Current driver’s licence.

Skills

  • Flange management & break-out experience.
  • Torque & tensioning (Boltright, Hydratight, etc.).
  • Swagelok & tubing installs.
  • Read mechanical drawings fast.

Knowledge

  • Shutdown planning & execution.
