You’ll pull brand-new gear, haul over-dimensional project cargo, machinery, steel, boats – anything that needs chains, strops and proper load security across Cook Strait and back. Pay is $38–$45/hr flat + ferry allowances + overnight allowances = $140k–$180k+ real take-home for a gun driver who runs hard and safe. Brand-new Kenworths/Scania with full B-train sets, all hours running, no touch freight, and a small, tight Christchurch fleet that looks after its top drivers.

Responsibilities
- Run Chch → Picton → Wellington/Napier/Palmy (and reverse) 4–5 nights away
- Secure over-dimensional, steel, machinery, boats with chains/strops

Experience
Proven floating inter-island experience (minimum 3–5 years)
Qualifications
- Full Class 5 + clean licence
- Proven chains/strops/over-dimensional securing history
- Current forklift & HIAB ticket a bonus
Skills
- Lash 40-tonne excavators or 15 m steel without thinking
- Reverse B-trains onto the Interislander in the dark
- Get along with North Island agents & clients
- Zero shortcuts on safety
Knowledge
- Cook Strait ferry routines & timings
- NZTA over-dimensional rules & pilot requirements
- Proper curtain management on windy decks
