Ocean Steel, Atlantic Canada’s biggest and busiest structural & platework fabricator, is hiring experienced MCAW welders right now for their massive Saint John shop – burn heavy metal-core all day on beams, columns, bridges, tanks and process equipment that go to the Eastern US, Bermuda and Caribbean while earning $36–$42+/hr (real $90k–$120k+ year with regular overtime at 1.5× and double-time weekends) + full Shopmen’s Local 809 union benefits after 45 shifts (health, dental, life, pension, RRSP match, wellness program, years-of-service bonuses, sports team sponsorships). Job Title

Structural Steel Welder – MCAW (Metal Core) All Positions

Responsibilities

• Heavy MCAW on beams, columns, trusses, platework
• Weld flat, horizontal, vertical-up to CWB standards
• Set up & run Lincoln Power Wave wire-feed machines
• Read complex structural & shop drawings
• Operate 10–20 ton overhead cranes daily
• Grind, clean, prep for paint/inspection
• Pass regular CWB all-position tests

Requirements

Certification

NB Class B Welder ticket or Red Seal huge asset / Block 1 apprenticeship minimum

Experience

1–3 years structural steel MCAW (bridge/building fab preferred)

Qualifications

• Legal to work in Canada
• Pass pre-employment weld test & drug screen

Skills

• Burn clean 1G–4G metal-core all day
• Layout from prints & weld symbols fast
• Work safe at heights & with cranes
