Dairy Farm Hand
Responsibilities
- Carry out milking routines using a rotary dairy system
- Check animal health and wellbeing daily
- Feed stock and assist with livestock movement
- Operate basic machinery and tools for farm maintenance
- Keep sheds, yards, and workspaces clean and safe
- Update records relating to herd health and performance
- Follow hygiene, safety, and biosecurity protocols
- Assist during calving and young stock care
- Spot and report signs of illness or lameness
- Fix fences, water troughs, and basic infrastructure
- Support seasonal activities like pasture maintenance
- Take part in informal training and group briefings
- Work a flexible schedule including early mornings
- Pitch in as needed to help team operations run smoothly
Requirements and Qualifications
Education
- High school education is preferred
- Certificates in agriculture or related trades are a plus
Experience
- Open to those without prior dairy experience
- Background in physical, outdoor work is highly regarded
Skills
- Mechanically minded with a “can-do” attitude
